About Me

My first book was published in 1984 and there have been about twenty since then. Along the way, I’ve also worked as a teacher, foster parent, petrol pump attendant and safeguarding children adviser. I’m currently a Writing Fellow with the Royal Literary Fund (www.rlf.org.uk) and working as a writer in residence around the country. Since Writing Children’s Fiction (Bloomsbury, co-authored with Linda Newbery) came out in 2013 I’ve been working on various projects that don’t involve writing actual books, but I’m returning to children’s fiction with a couple of books in progress…watch this space.
